Stone Soup Group (SSG) is a statewide parent resource center that empowers Alaskan families who are raising children and youth with disabilities, special healthcare needs, and developmental differences by providing information, support, training, and connections to resources statewide.
As a board member, you will provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure the long-term health, sustainability, and impact of the organization. Responsibilities include setting organizational direction, approving and evaluating programs and services, providing oversight of financial health and organizational performance, supporting and evaluating the Executive Director, participating in fundraising and community engagement efforts, and serving as an ambassador for Stone Soup Group throughout Alaska. Board members are also expected to attend regular board meetings, serve on committees, participate in board development activities, and make an annual personal contribution.
We welcome individuals from across Alaska who have diverse backgrounds, professions, and lived experiences who are passionate about strengthening communities and improving opportunities for children and families. Experience in nonprofit leadership, finance, law, healthcare, education, public policy, fundraising, communications, or human resources is valuable, as is lived experience as a family member or self-advocate. Above all, we seek board members who are collaborative, thoughtful, and committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and meaningful systems change for Alaskan families.

Stone Soup Group exists to sustain the health and well-being of Alaskan children with special needs and their families. Through listening to the stories of families, we identify areas of need and work with communities to find solutions.
Families statewide will be empowered to make informed decisions that will ensure every child who experiences special needs receives long-term, quality, coordinated care, and family support.
