The Literacy Council of Alaska (LCA) empowers adults in Interior and Northern Alaska through equal access to education, language learning, and workforce development. We provide GED and ELL instruction, career pathway support for at-risk youth, and operate Forget-Me-Not Books, a community used bookstore that helps fund our programs, promote a love of reading, and supplies book donations to organizations throughout our community.
We are seeking board members who are passionate about education and community development and who can bring skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
Public policy or government relations
Retail Business (to advise on bookstore strategy and operations)
Finance
Fundraising/development
Legal expertise
Education or workforce development
Board members help guide strategic direction, strengthen community partnerships, support fundraising, and advocate for equal access to education for all Alaskans.
Commitment: Monthly meetings and occasional committee participation.
