The Family Promise Mat-Su Board of Directors serves to help families in crisis overcome unique challenges and to achieve lasting independence.  Your skills, experience, ideas, and insight will help guide our financial stability, empowering our families and creating powerful initiatives in our community.

Family Promise's mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Our core values focus on empowering families experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through a compassionate, community-based approach. Briefly describe your board culture.

Our board consists of males and females between the ages of 45 and 65. One board member has lived homelessness experience. Our Board comprises of mix-race, white, and Hispanic origins. We have representatives from the housing, finance, faith, business owner, and prevention professions, providing our board with a variety of perspectives when reviewing and cultivating policies that align with our mission and core values.

Why is board diversity important to this organization?

Board diversity is important to our organization as it represents the diversity of our guest families. Singles with children, married and unmarried couples with children, grandparents with custody of their grandchildren, biracial, handicapped, veterans, and LGBTQ+ represent the many families we have served, and our Board's diversity provides an unbiased example of those we serve in our community.
