Briefly describe your board culture.

Our Board is presently in a rebuilding process and is seeking new members to bring more diverse perspectives to the Board, as well as help facilitate more consistent stability and best practices related to their work. We are an agency with a fantastic mission, with a dedicated core Board membership, whose work could benefit greatly from new members who are familiar with best practices for Board activities, and how to foster the most congenial but productive Board culture as possible

Why is board diversity important to this organization?

We believe that the most effective Board's reflect in their membership the diversity of the people that the agency serves. DLC has a statewide mission to serve all Alaskans, and Alaska is a state with a uniquely diverse cultural identity. The Board should reflect that diversity in its membership.
