They hosts Welcome Dinner for our visiting Artists and help top distribute poster around the city for our events. It a really fun group and almost all events include food and fun.
Board of Directors: Voluntary, legal governing body of a nonprofit.
The mission of Alaska Junior Theater is to bring the highest quality professional performances to Alaska’s youth and family audiences, reaching out to students, families and communities who may otherwise not be able to experience the performing arts. AJT brings the best professional performing arts from around the world to all of Alaska’s youth and family audiences, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
AJT offers a diverse selection of theater experiences accompanied by a strong educational component, including teacher and student workshops, study guides and classroom transportation to performances.
One of Alaska Junior Theater’s core values is to build a stronger community by presenting programs that offer different cultural perspectives to Alaska's children—thereby expanding their horizons, opening new worlds of insight into other cultures, and inspiring them to work towards overcoming barriers. We also offer a public family series, allowing all members of the family to enjoy high-quality entertainment together.
The AJT Board believes the arts must be accessible to all so they work hard to raise funds for over 1,200 free admission scholarships for low income students each year and strive to keep our ticket prices lower than other arts organizations to make them more accessible to all.
AJT’s board diversity—across gender, ethnicity, age, and professional experience—strengthens corporate governance by improving decision-making, reducing groupthink, and supporting stronger financial outcomes. A wider range of perspectives leads to more effective risk management, greater innovation, and a deeper understanding of Alaska’s diverse communities. This diversity also enables the board to better reflect and respond to the needs of school districts, employees, and stakeholders, ultimately enhancing trust, brand loyalty, and organizational reputation.
