Board member

The Denali Nordic Ski Club (DNSC) Board of Directors is a fun, passionate group of volunteers who provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure the sustainability of the organization and its mission to serve the skiing community of the Upper Susitna Valley.

DNSC Board members serve a term of 2 years.

Roles and responsibilities:
1. Define and oversee the mission of this organization and keep it relevant to the needs of our community.
2. Approve programs and services and monitor their effectiveness.
3. Provide strategic guidance to the organization and the club coordinator.
4. Ensure financial solvency and help raise resources.
5. Select, support, and evaluate the club coordinator.
6. Ensure continuous board improvement

The board meets monthly throughout the winter season and a few times as necessary in the off-season. Virtual attendance option through Zoom available.

Our mission is to promote Nordic skiing through education, instruction, dedicated trail construction and maintenance.

Our board is made up of 7 volunteers from the community. They range in age from late 20s-70 years. All members love the winter and outdoors but in different ways. Different board members are passionate about different aspects of winter activities, some are passionate about educating new skiers, some are passionate about winter community connections, some focus on the health of the community through skiing, some focus on access. Together they work to address all aspects of our mission.

Why is board diversity important to this organization?

Because our mission is somewhat broad, it is necessary to have board members with diverse interests, passions, and skills.
