Current Position Description

Board of Directors - Anchorage, Copper River, Bristol Bay, Kodiak, Prince William Sound,

Board members play an important role in the governance, strategic direction, and fiscal oversight of SREMSC while representing the interests of emergency medical care consumers, EMS providers, local governments, and communities throughout the region.

What Board Members Do

SREMSC Board members are expected to:

• Participate regularly in Board meetings and come prepared to make informed decisions.
• Provide strategic guidance and oversight of the organization.
• Review organizational financial reports, budgets, programs, and priorities.
• Represent the needs and perspectives of EMS providers, communities, healthcare partners, and other regional stakeholders.
• Participate in committees and other Board activities as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with SREMSC ethics and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Support SREMSC’s mission and promote the continued development of emergency medical services throughout the region.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome individuals who:

• Have an interest in strengthening emergency medical services in Alaska.
• Bring professional, community, healthcare, EMS, public safety, government, business, nonprofit, or other relevant experience.
• Can work collaboratively with individuals representing diverse communities and perspectives.
• Are willing to actively participate in Board meetings and activities.
• Can exercise independent judgment while supporting decisions made collectively by the Board.
• Meet the residency and representation requirements for the available Board seat.

You do not need to be an EMT or paramedic to contribute to SREMSC’s Board. The Board represents the interests of both consumers and providers of emergency medical care, as well as local government and the communities SREMSC serves.

Term & Commitment

Term: Three years
Compensation: Volunteer position; approved Board-related expenses may be reimbursed
Meetings: Regular participation and attendance are required
Additional Opportunities: Board members may serve on committees and may be eligible for Board officer or Executive Committee positions.
