Treasurer/board member

To serve as the treasurer and a member of a 12 member, non-profit board of directors, (Anchorage Mushing District).  We are creating the district on 4th Avenue from A to G Streets in downtown Anchorage.  The focal point is the newly installed arch over 4th near D Street.  The purpose is to celebrate our state sport, sled dog racing, and our rich history of sled dog use,  Another goal is to revitalize our downtown area.

Mission. Develop a historical designation in downtown Anchorage that provides awareness, education and history of dog mushing in Alaska

Purpose; To honor our state sport which is sled dog racing, show Anchorage’s rich history of sled dogs delivering our mail and supplies in the winter before the railroad became operational. A big emphasis is to help revitalize downtown Anchorage with an Arch across 4th Avenue, banners, bronze disks in the sidewalks, walking tour, an interpretive kiosk and interpretive signs in the district

Briefly describe your board culture.

We are made up of people that have an interest in our rich history of sled dog use and all want to help revitalize downtown Anchorage by creating a Tourist attraction and an educational opurtunity for everyone.
