Kenai Peninsula Housing Initiatives, Inc. (KPHI) seeks committed and community-minded individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. KPHI is a nonprofit housing organization dedicated to developing, owning, and managing affordable housing for low-income households, seniors, and individuals with special needs across the Kenai Peninsula.
KPHI operates as a staff-led organization, with day-to-day operations managed by professional staff. The Board of Directors provides governance, oversight, and strategic direction, and does not engage in routine operational or management functions.
Board of Directors: Voluntary, legal governing body of a nonprofit.
KPHI provides the low-income, very low-income, senior and special needs residents of the Kenai Peninsula area the opportunity to take a more active role in their lives and communities by providing a variety of affordable housing options.
KPHI’s Board culture is collaborative, respectful, and grounded in strong governance practices. Board Members are expected to be prepared, engaged, and willing to contribute diverse perspectives. The Board focuses on strategic direction and oversight, while day-to-day operations are led by staff. Clear roles and mutual respect between Board and staff are essential to the organization’s effectiveness.
Board diversity ensures that KPHI’s decisions reflect the full range of communities and populations we serve across the Kenai Peninsula. Representation from different geographic areas, combined with varied professional and lived experience, strengthens governance, improves decision-making, and helps ensure that our housing strategies are responsive to real community needs.
