This position provides guidance and support to the agency while ensuring that it carries out its mission. This position also collaborates with other members of the Board of Directors to provide general supervision of the President/CEO.
This position is responsible for observing policies, procedures and safeguards to protect the privacy of health information in compliance with federal privacy and confidentiality regulations.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Board of Directors: Voluntary, legal governing body of a nonprofit.
Denali Family Services' (DFS) mission is, “To support the wellness of Alaska’s youth and families through community-based behavioral health services.” The agency’s vision is that “Alaska’s youth and families have the support and healthy connections needed to be resilient, flourish, and thrive.” Healthy relationships, resilient youth, and connected communities are their core values.
The DFS Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse group of compassionate individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds. The collective group is easygoing, amiable, gracious, and supportive. Board members are humble, willing to learn and eager to ask questions to gain full understanding of the operational tasks and goals of the agency. Board meetings strike a healthy balance between professionalism and informality by adhering to the meeting agenda, but also making space for friendly conversation, lively discussions, honest feedback, and lighthearted humor. Board meetings are facilitated in a virtual and in-person hybrid format to accommodate the schedules and lifestyles of its members. The full board and board committees meet bi-monthly on an alternating schedule.
